| Learn to speak French like a native ..........!! Enrolment 1. How do I enrol? You should complete the on-line enrolment 2. Is there a deadline to enrol for the French course? No, we will usually accept last minute enrolments but the earlier you enrol the better we will be able to find appropriate accommodation for you. 3. Can I enrol for next week/next year? Yes, you can enrol as early as you wish. We will usually accept enrolments by Wednesday for the following week with no added charge. Enrolments after Wednesday for the following week will incur a late enrolment charge. 4. How do I know if I am enrolled? Once we receive your enrolment form we will send you an acknowledgement and ask for the deposit. When we receive the deposit we will send you a confirmation document for the programme on which you have enrolled. 5. Can I enrol by fax? Yes, just fax us your enrolment form to +33 4 67 15 04 73. 6. How much will it cost me? The prices are shown on the web site but all costs – the programme cost, the accommodation cost, any additional costs and charges that you will have to pay – will be confirmed to you when you enrol. 7. Is there a minimum age for your students The minimum age in the school in Montpellier is 16 for individual enrolments. For students under 18 years old we require that the enrolment is completed by a parent or guardian. For students under 18 we require a parental letter giving guidelines about what the student is allowed/not allowed to do. 8. How old must I be to enrol for a programme To enrol for the programmes you must be over 18 years old. For students under 18 years old the enrolment must be done by a parent of guardian. Travelling to Montpellier 9. Will I be met when I arrive? If you have asked for host accommodation you will be met on arrival at the station or the airport. When the arrangements for your programme are completed you will be given instructions for your arrival and where you will be met. If you have asked for other types of accommodation you will not be met at the airport and will need to take the Navette or a taxi to your accommodation. If you have asked for host accommodation your host will meet you when you arrive. If you have asked for another type of accommodation you will not be met at the airport. 11. Where will I be met? If we have arranged host accommodation you will be met where you arrive in Montpellier whether it is the airport or station. 12. How will I know who is meeting me? The person meeting you will have a card with your name on it. When the arrangements for your programme are finalised you will be sent a document giving details of your accommodation and instructions on where you will be met. 13. Can someone meet me in Nice/Paris/Marseille? No. If your programme is in Montpellier we cannot arrange for you to be met in a different city. 14. Is there a charge for being met on arrival? If you have arranged host accommodation and are arriving in Montpellier, between 9am and 10pm, at the weekend, there is no charge. Arrivals outside these times may incur a charge. 15. How do I get to Montpellier? You can travel to Montpellier: a. from Paris: • by plane from either Roissy, Charles de Gaulle or Orly • by TGV direct b. from Nice or Marseille by TGV c. from Nimes by train d. from London Gatwick (summer only) by plane e. from London Stansted by plane f. from Frankfurt Hahn by plane g. from Barcelona by train Programmes 16. Will I have a test on arrival? No, we do not give you a test when you arrive. During your enrolment we will ask you to complete and return to us a self-assessment document to give us your level. 17. Can I take the DELF/DALF or the DELE exams? Yes, we can prepare you for the DELF/DALF exams. The exams can be taken in Montpellier. We can help you to enrol for the exams. The exam fees are not included and are extra to the programme fees. 18. Will I obtain a certificate at the end of my French course? Yes, on your last day of programme, we will give you a certificate of participation in the French course. This certificate will include the level of French you have achieved and the type of course you attended. 19. What is the maximum number of students per class? The maximum number is 10. But the average is 5 per class. 20. Is there a specific French course to prepare for the DELF/DALF exams? Yes, there is a special course to prepare students for exams. These courses have special start dates which link with the exam dates. Contact us for start dates for these programmes. 21. Is the time spent for the evaluation test included in the French course? You do not take an evaluation test when your arrive. During your enrolment we ask you to complete and return to us a self-assessment document. 22. What level do I need to be to join a programme To join a group you need to have a level between faux debutante (to have already studied French) or elementary and good intermediate. 23. When can I join a programme if I am a total beginner? As a total beginner we recommend that you take a course of individual lessons before joining a group programme. You can start a programme of individual lessons on any Monday. 24. Can I arrive and start my programme on any day of the week? You can arrive in Montpellier any day of the week. We can arrange your accommodation from the day you arrive to the day you leave. Lessons for group programmes start on Monday morning. Individual lessons can start on any week day. 25. How long can my programme last? Your programme should be a minimum of 1 week but can be as long as you would like. 26. How long are the lessons and is there a break? There a 2 group lessons of 1 hour and 25 minutes with a 10 minute break each morning. 27. How many students are in the group? There will be a maximum of 10 students in your group but the average will be 5 in the group. 28. Where do your students come from? Our students come from all over the world. Most of our students speak English. Programme costs 29. Is there a late enrolment charge? No, for enrolments up to the Wednesday before the start date there is no late enrolment charge. For enrolment after Wednesday there will be a late enrolment charge. 30. If I enrol for next year will the cost of the programme increase? Once you have paid your non-refundable deposit the programme cost shown on the confirmation document we send to you will be honoured for the dates for which you have enrolled. 31. Are exams included in the programme fees? No, exam entrance fees are not included in the programme fees. Exam fees have to be paid the exam body where you take the exam. Accommodation 32. Can you arrange accommodation for me? Yes, we can arrange accommodation for you. The cost of the accommodation is not included in the programme fees. 33. What type of accommodation do you arrange? The accommodation we can offer is half-board with a French host or a studio in an aparthotel. We will make the reservation for you but you are responsible for paying your accommodation when you arrive. 34. Can I pay you for my accommodation so that I do not need to bring cash with me? Yes, you can pay us for your accommodation so that you do have to worry about having Euro when you arrive. We make a charge for this service. 35. How do you select your host families? Our hosts are visited by our Accommodation Officer and selected upon the following criteria: welcoming family, comfort and cleanliness, good location in relation to the school, ease of access to the school. 36. Will there be parents and children in my host family? Our ‘host families’ will not necessarily be a ‘family’ with mother, father, 2 children and a pet. Many of our ‘host families’ are single women, with a room available because their children have left home and who like to welcome foreign students into their homes. 37. How do I travel from my host family to the school? You will be given details of the transport options for getting to the school. The transport can be bus or tram within a maximum of 40 minutes travel time from the school or a maximum of 30 minutes walking distance from the school. 38. Can the school help me to find accommodation? Yes, we can find accommodation for you with a host or in a studio in an aparthotel. We will be able to give you details of other types of accommodation and help you with the arrangements. 39. Will I have to share facilities with other people living at the accommodation? Yes, most of the time living in a family means that you have to share a bathroom and living space. This is a good way to improve your French. 40. When will I know my accommodation address? You will be given full details of your accommodation – name, address, contact details about 4 weeks before the start date for your programme. Tutors 41. Could you tell me anything about your teachers? All our tutors are experienced and qualified as teachers of French as a foreign language. They are also native-language speakers. 42. Do teachers speak any other languages? What if I don’t understand what my teacher will be saying? Our tutors are French speakers and are not required to speak another language. Our tutors are qualified and experienced at teaching their language to foreign students and adjust their language and teaching to the student level. Required documents 43. What happens if I need a visa? You should check with the French embassy in your country to find out what documents you require to apply for a visa. Tell us what you require and we will send the documents to you by e-mail. If you need the original documents sending to you we make a charge for this service. 44. Will you help me with problems with visas, etc. when I am in school? Yes, we can help you. We can give you relevant addresses and explain what you need to do. If you wish a personal assistant to help you with this, we can organise this as an optional extra. 45. Does the school give the necessary documents to obtain a visa? Yes, once you enrol and have made the necessary payments, we will send you the enrolment document for the French Embassy in your country. Some countries require the school to confirm that payment of full programme fees and accommodation has been received before the embassy will issue a visa. You should check with the embassy in your country. 46. Do I need insurance? Y6s, you should have personal liability, accident, health and travel insurance. If you are from the EU you should bring the European Health, the EHIC, with you. Payment 47. What are your terms and conditions? Our terms and conditions are shown on the web site. 48. Do you have a cancellation policy? Yes, our cancellation policy is shown on the web site. 49. Can I pay by cheque? We accept cheques in sterling drawn on a UK or in Euro drawn on French bank. We do not accept cheques in other currencies. 50. Can I pay by instalments? Yes but the full cost of your programme must be paid, in full, 5 weeks before the start of your programme. If you are applying for a visa, the Embassy may require you to pay the full cost of your programme and accommodation in advance. However, we will provide visa support documentation. 51. Do you have sponsors to pay for my programme? No, we cannot arrange sponsors to pay for your programme. You will need to arrange funding in your own country before you enrol for the programme. Miscellaneous 52. Can you provide references? Yes, we can provide you with references. 53. Do I need to bring money with me? Yes, you will need to bring money with you. The currency in France is Euro and everything you pay will be in Euro. 54. How much money should I bring with me? You will need money to buy drinks, lunch, bus tickets, to go to the cinema, take a weekend trip or an afternoon activity and to cover activities you wish to do outside the school. 55. What type of clothing will I need? In the winter it can be cold at the beginning and at the end of the day so you will need warm clothing and clothing appropriate for the middle of the day when it can be very warm. In the summer there can be storms with heavy rain but the temperatures can reach 40o . In the summer you should remember to bring sun cream and sun glasses as the sun is very strong in the south of France. What next?
