USA-WashingtonDC(kitchen)100.jpgAccommodation, Facilities and Local Area
The best of both worlds. Our home is located in a quiet wooded neighbourhood in the heart of Washington DC, 10 minute drive from downtown, 5 minutes from historic Georgetown. We are a 10 minute walk from the nearest bus stop providing access to the entire Metro system. The house itself faces a wooded park and has a lovely garden in the back where you can watch the birds and other wildlife. I often see deer in the woods behind the house. This is a very safe up-scale Washington neighbourhood.

The student’s accommodations are on the 3rd floor and include a bedroom with a queen-size bed, private bathroom and sitting area with a sofa, TV and computer with Internet access. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The house was built in 1939 and maintains some character and charm from this pre-war period. In 2003 the house was remodelled and decorated in a more contemporary style, including a gourmet kitchen where we enjoy cooking and entertaining friends and family.

USA-Washington_DC175.jpgAs Washington is the nation’s capital there are many museums, national monuments, historical buildings, gardens and shopping areas to fit any one’s interests. Washington and the surrounding area is also a very green and beautiful region of the US with opportunities for hiking and visiting local scenic areas. A weekend visit to our family farm in south-western Pennsylvania (2 and ½ hours from Washington) is also a possibility.

As an English teacher I am very committed to finding out what my student’s needs and goals are and teaching to those goals. I am a language learner myself and understand the difficulties of learning a second language and living in a foreign country. I can help you acquire the language skills you want to learn.
