Accommodation, Facilities and Local Area
Our home is an attractive, 15 year old 5-bedroom house built in Cotswold stone, set in a quiet, no through road just a few minutes walk from the beautiful village of Bourton on the Water. Bourton on the Water is known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'. We have the river Windrush running through the village with lots of little bridges! During the summer they hold duck races on the river and it is famous for its annual Bank Holiday weekend watery football match.
The Cotswolds have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has lots of little shops and unusual museums and attractions for children such as a miniature village, an exotic bird park and a maze. You can have a 'Cotswolds cream tea' at any number of tea shops. There is a leisure centre with a public swimming pool and also horse riding stables nearby. It is within walking distance of other picturesque villages and all walks and hikes are very well signposted. Bourton on the Water is conveniently situated for visiting places such as Oxford, Stratford on Avon, Bath and Bristol, all within about an hours drive. The lovely spa town of Cheltenham is about 20 minutes away and has all the amenities one would expect, theatre, cinema, and all the High Street department stores. The nearest rail station is about 15 minutes away and the journey to London takes about 90 minutes.
Experience would have to be our greatest asset. We are very used to having students and my husband David and daughter Clodagh are an invaluable help in making them feel at home. David is interested in other countries and cultures and Clodagh takes younger students out to meet her friends. She has various interests, sings in a number of choirs, is an Explorer Scout and enjoys outdoor pursuits.
