FRENCH HOTEL PROGRAMME (stage en hôtellerie)
T he Eurolingua French Hotel Programme enables students attending recognised institutions in their own country to come to France, boost their French language skills to a level acceptable by Hotel Directors, and then participate in a French hotel work experience/internship (stage en hôtellerie) in accordance with French law and regulations.
The Eurolingua French Hotel Programme is offered to European (EU) Students and to Non-European (EU) Students, as described below.
Please note that, under French regulations, in order to qualify for an Hotel Internship (stage en hôtellerie), all candidates must be connected in some way with the hospitality sector, and must, of course, be able to speak reasonable French by the time they start the hotel internship. We prepare suitable candidates to attain the appropriate level of French as used in the hotel industry.
REQUIREMENTS
Y ou must be:
(1) in full time education, studying hotel, catering or tourism (2) able to provide documents, in French, from your educational establishment stating:
- Dates for your studies
- Name of the studies
- Qualification you will gain at the end of your studies
- You have to complete a work placement to validate your studies
- The aims and objectives for the work placement you will take
(3) Be able to provide from your French Department a document, in French, stating:
- The number of years of French study you have undertaken
- The level you have achieved in French (Coucil of Europe standard classification)
- The materials and textbooks used during your recent French study
(4) Have a current passport valid 6 months beyond the end date of your planned stage en hôtellerie.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
(A) Complete and submit the on-line Application Form (Dossier de Candidature)
- Dates on the Application Form must be in European format dd/mm/yyyy
- Documents to be attached (uploaded with the application form):
- CV in French with your recent portrait photo
- Lettre de motivation in French
- Signed Guidelines
(B) We require a letter in French from the applicant's school/university, confirming:
- that the student is in full-time education
- specifying the details of the course the student is following
- stating the start dates and end dates for the course
- stating the precise qualification the student will gain at the end of the course
- that the student has to undertake the placement in order to validate his course
(C) Document, in French, giving details of the French course you have undertaken:
- Start dates for course
- Materials covered
- Assessed current level
- Signed and dated by your French teacher
(D) Travel insurance valid in France and covering the usual travel risks including accident and health
APPLICATION VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
Applications, including all required documents (all items shown in 1-4 above), must be received at least 6 weeks prior to the requested start date.
N.B. An application cannot be processed without a fully completed Application Form with all attachments
Procedure
- Applications will be checked. Only fully completed applications will be accepted and processed
- You will be advised if your application has been accepted or rejected
- When the application is accepted you will be asked to pay the deposit
- Applicants who have submitted fully completed applications and paid the deposit, will be invited to take a telephone interview to assess their level of spoken French – both speaking and understanding what is said
- You will be told if your level is acceptable for the stage en hôtellerie and how many hours of French lessons you will need to take in order to be accepted by an Hotel Director
- You will be sent a document confirming that you are accepted on the programme. The document will show the cost of the programme including:
- French language programme
- Accommodation during the French language programme (single, half-board with a French host)
- Administrative and management charges relating to the French programme, accommodation arrangement, preparation of documents and support during the programme
- When the stage en hôtellerie is confirmed to you, you will be asked to pay the balance of the programme fees. Only fully paid-up applicants will be admitted to the programme
