Excursions and Local Attractions
Plenty sightseeing with interesting middle age buildings and museums and horse farms. A splendid Renaissance castle "Château de Roque Baignard" (monument historique) is owned by our family near Cambremer (north of Lisieux), so we can plan for a visit and an invitation for dinner when it is occupied in summer (but my wife Nicole's daughter lives in Brussels most of the year).

FR-St-Aubin-de-Bonneval(photo2)100.jpgAccommodation, Facilities and Local Area
I am in Normandy in my lovely house which now has one more large room of 23m² with private shower, wash basin with large miror, and toilets. The bedroom opens onto the garden and the grass meadow of 2000m² on which there are 10 apple trees and others. Next to our property there is the countryside. We have five pets, one Yorkshire called Nolan, one cat called Raminette and three very funny midget goats that are supposed to eat the grass.

Our village St Aubin de Bonneval has a very old church (circa 1500 ) but no shops, about 30 houses and a townhall. The closest villages are LE SAP 8 kms and ORBEC (10kms) with doctors, pharmacie, bakers, grocers, banks, opticians, newspapers(also British and German), restaurants, bistros, bed and breakfasts, two super markets ED and CHAMPION, garages and gazoline pumps, etc etc. Post offices, internet and telephone are available also.

Although the room has one double bed and a single we will accept only one female student at a time with 15 hours tuition per week, and all meals.

The nearest railway station and bigger town is LISIEUX where we meet our student at the railway station if they are coming across the Channel. For those who fly to Paris (190 km from St Aubin de Bonneval), we suggest they take a bus from Charles de Gaulle Airport to the Place Maillot Air Terminal in Paris and then take the subway to Gare St Lazare, then a direct train that stops in LISIEUX. Alternatively, we can collect the student at Porte Maillot, then after a short car tour of Paris, drive back to St Aubin de Bonneval which is about 400 kms round trip, thus an additional cost. For the return trip, it is better to book on a late day plane or else count a night in a hotel next to the Porte Maillot Air Terminal.

FR-St-Aubin-de-Bonneval(garden)175.jpgWe are situated in splendid countryside, there is hardly any car traffic, no traffic jams, no pollution, absolute silence except the bird songs.

Nearest International Airport: there is an International Airport at Deauville, at least in summer, about 50 kms from St Aubin de Bonneval. Otherwise, Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris.

Also, easy access from the United Kingdom via the ferries from Portsmouth arriving in OUISTREHAM which is the port of Caen, Normandy.
