Excursions and Local Attractions
Lisbon: Take the train from Cascais to the Empire Square (World Heritage); here we will visit the Monastery of Jerónimos and the Cultural Center of Belém and the Ancient Art Museum (optional). Back on the train to the Historic town center (18th century architecture). Have a cup of coffee at the charismatic Brasileira Coffeeshop. A beautiful train ride along the river. Visit the Castle of S. George (conquered by the first king of Portugal in 1147). Enjoy the stunning view of the River Tagus and the city of Lisbon.

There are other museums that the student may visit: Museu Gulbenkian (mostly contemporary art); Museu da Cidade (City Museum); Museu do Chiado (contemporary art);
Museu do Azulejo (Tile Museum).

Cabo da Roca, the most western point of continental Europe (15 minutes from Cascais).
The Romantic Town of Sintra (World Heritage); visit the two national palaces.

Accommodation, Facilities and Local Area
Modern detached house 228 m² on two floors + finished attic. Ground floor: large, kitchen/family room, large screen TV, living room, bathroom with a shower and my office. 1st floor: 4 bedrooms (1 large suite with private bath) and another bathroom. Attic, large bedroom /studio. Wooden floors all over the house except bathrooms and kitchen (tile). Garden, 400m², very quite area, cul-de-sac, 3 minute walk to the bus stop (to the train station to Lisbon, in Cascais, and to the beach). One of the best residential areas in Portugal. 5 minutes from the motorway to Lisbon (20 minute drive). Lots of Mediterranean pine trees around. Children: Phillip (30), Sara (27), Carlos (22), Amy (17).
