	IRKUTSK Irkutsk is the capital of Eastern Siberia and was founded by Russian cossacks in 1661. Situated on the Angara river, only 66 kilometers from fabulous Lake Baikal, the deepest lake on Earth, Irkutsk is one of the largest commercial, cultural and scientific centers in Siberia. There are many Universities, museums and theatres in this charismatic city of almost 800,000 inhabitants.
