The Republic of Costa Rica is a small country (51,032 km²) in Central America enjoying a tropical and subtropical climate. The capital is San Jose where we offer Spanish programs. Costa Rica is a great location for improving your Spanish skills and we have some ideal schools for you to do it in.

Unlike most of their Central American neighbours, Costa Ricans are largely of European descent. Spain is the primary country of origin and therefore Spanish is the main language spoken. This makes a perfect location for Spanish language schools. In Costa Rica you have the opportunity to practise what you learn in the classroom with the locals!

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica This Costa Rica Spanish school offers Spanish classes in the capital San José and at Manuel Antonio National Park (beach and rainforest) on the Pacific Coast. We will pick you up at the airport and arrange for your stay while in Costa Rica, either with a Costa Rican host family, in an apartment or in a hotel. We also offer a summer camp in Heredia for high school students. There is also the unique possibility of combining Spanish classes in the city with classes at Manuel Antonio National Park (beach and rainforest). In the city, the school is located between San Pedro and Zapote, in a safe, quiet suburb of San José which is about a ten minute bus ride from downtown. HEREDIA, Costa Rica The Spanish programme uses a combination of immersion teaching methods centred around the Communicative Approach. Our aim is to enable students to really express themselves in the language. Instead of a traditional grammar program, classes are designed to provide balance between theory and practice. The course incorporates all aspects of language acquisition: conversation, grammar, reading, listening, writing, general comprehension and idiomatic expressions. In addition to formal textbooks, we use a wide variety of current materials: newspapers, literature, audio-cassettes, videos, advertisements, music, short stories and more. Classes also incorporate field-trips and out-of-class learning experiences by taking students to practice their Spanish in marketplaces, museums, buses, restaurants, and other areas where communication practice is a necessity.
