Hobbies and Interests

Possible choices depend on the student’s interests and time of year in Vancouver: Grouse Mountain, Whistler, Lynn Valley, Stanley Park, White Rock, Aldergrove or Vancouver Zoo, Queen Elizabeth Park, Van Dusen Botanical Gardens, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Vancouver Art Gallery, Kitsilano Beach, Granville Island (market), Vancouver Aquarium, Fort Langley National Historic Site, Museum of Anthropology, Harbor Tower (revolving tower), the Jazz Cellar (live Jazz), the Old Spaghetti Factory (restaurant), Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Swing Dancing, festivals or rodéos if they are on, PNE (amusement park/fair), Harrison Hot Springs, Shannon Falls, and rafting.

Accommodation, Facilities and Local Area
A large house (300m2) on 2 levels, with 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 kitchens. Can accommodate 2 female students in separate rooms, as well as a couple. All rooms have a bed, desk, desk lamp, dresser, and closet. A queen sized bed is available for couples.  Near Vancouver, only 1 hour from the USA border, and surrounded by beaches and mountains and in safe, quiet, residential area. Excellent access to bus transportation and about 35 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Close to the largest park in New Westminster, a cinema, recreation center, pools, baseball and football fields, tennis courts, fitness center, library and gym. Near a river with a beautiful walkway and shopping area. We are only minutes from one of the biggest shopping malls in Canada called Metrotown Metropolis. You can receive One-to-One or small group personalized English tutoring at our home, with excursions.

I am a very kind and outgoing person who enjoys working with people. Since I grew up in Vancouver, I know the area, businesses, and tourist attractions very well; therefore, would be an ideal homestay, as well as possible internship or volunteer program agent/coordinator. I have experience organizing large conferences, and also began my Master’s of Counseling before I changed fields to became an English teacher. I have traveled to many countries, I am familiar with different cultures and traditions, and I understand the needs of foreign students. I am also very knowledgeable about computers, and enjoy traveling.
