Excursions and Local Attractions
The following are within easy reach of Margate and excursions are offered according to student interest: several interesting museums, Canterbury and its cathedral, concert venues and theatres, a thriving local art scene including the developing Turner Centre, coastal walks with magnificent views, historic sites, good shopping facilities. Golf, swimming and other sports catered for locally. We have bicycles available for guests to use and I can accompany them. I am a qualified Yachtmaster and can offer daysailing on my small sailing yacht.
Accommodation, Facilities and Local Area
A lovely, well-decorated and comfortably furnished early Victorian town house in a central location, close to Margate's cliffs and beaches and the town centre. The guest room is bright and comfortable, with views over the town and the sea, and a private bathroom. We have a large lounge and a study which guests are welcome to use. In Margate itself you can relax on the beach or walk along the cliffs, which form part of the Thanet Way. There is a a good local museum some galleries featuring the work of local artists. Broadstairs, once the home of Charles Dickens, is nearby as is Ramsgate with its attractive harbour, maritime museum and cafes. Sports, from golf to sailing, are catered for locally. Thre are good transport links to Margate from London by train, car and coach. Eurostar travellers can take a taxi from Ashford Station, 30 miles from Margate.
