Hobbies and Interests
My husband and I try to do a "tourist" activity each weekend. This might include visiting a nearby attraction or National Park, seeing a shopping center we have never visited before or attending a festival. We also walk our very energetic dog, read many books, enjoy cooking together as well as our personal hobbies. I enjoy sewing and self study or revision, and my husband makes his own beer, and spends time on the computer. We like to travel, visiting new places and meeting new faces and ways of thinking, but have not (and probably never will) traveled as much as we would like to.
Excursions and Local Attractions
Depending on the student's person interest and hobbies, excursions could be arranged for many destinations, including the following: National Gallery of Australia, Australian War Memorial, National Archives of Australia, National Museum of Australia.
Accommodation, Facilities and Local Area
I live with my husband in a spacious three bedroom one bathroom (separate toilet) house in a family oriented suburb of Canberra. The student's room has a single bed, desk, chair, lamp, alarm clock and waste paper basket as well as a built-in-wardrobe. Alternatively, students may stay in our other guest bedroom which has a double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, lamps, alarm clock and waste paper basket. However it does not have a desk. As there is only one bathroom, it is shared by all in the house. We have internet which can be wired to the other computers or wireless if the student chooses. We are well placed to local parks, sporting fields and walking and cycling paths. Within Canberra, the capital city of Australia, there are many attractions both man-made and natural. To see these it is easy to get around, both by car and public transportation. The people here are friendly like you would find in a small country town, but Canberra is big enough for big city facilities, including large shopping centers, world class sporting arenas and regular festivals.
