School Trips to France: Study Abroad Program

The Eurolingua Institute organises one or two-week school trips to France – in Montpellier. The programme includes group language tuition for 15 hours per week and quality French host family accommodation, and can include afternoon cultural and leisure activities, with a full-day excursion.
At only 20 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches, your students (between 12 to 20 years old) will discover a fantastic region of France which is sunny for most of the year and  where modernity mixes happily with the historic.

Our France study abroad program provides a great opportunity to enjoy leisure time just as much as time in the classroom. 
 The Lessons
On our group trips to France program lessons run from 9am to midday, Monday to Friday, with a mid-morning break. On request, specific teaching objectives for your group can be integrated into the program; we request that you provide us with the information required. Teaching material is included.

  • 269 Euros per student per week (10 to 14 students)
  • 365 Euros per student per week (6 to 9 students)
  • 420 Euros per student per week (5 students) 

 Activities

Excursions and visits:
Aigues-Mortes a mediaeval town: visit the Constance Tower and the town walls

 St Guilhem le Désert: guided visit the cloisters and Abbaye Gellone

Nîmes a Roman town: guided visit of the historical centre and 3 Roman monuments: Arènes, Maison Carrée, Tour Magne and the Jardins de la Fontaine

Cultural activities:

Musée languedocien: prehistoric, archaeological, classical remains, mediaeval art, local and regional traditions exhibited in a beautiful XVth century ‘hôtel’ in the centre of town
Musée Fabre de Montpellier: a XXIst century museum Housing 800 paintings on permanent display and temporary exhibitions
Le château de Flaugergues: guided visit of the gardens and château

Leisure activities:
Cinema: French film according to what is showing
Planétarium Galilée: ‘The theatre of the stars’ at the Odysseum
Mare Nostrum aquarium with a vast array of sea creature at the Odysseum
Serre Amazonienne – see tropical plants and animals
Ice-Skating: at ‘Vegapolis’ at the Odysseum
Swimming: at the Piscine Olympique d’Antigone (in the centre of town)
Palavas-les-Flots: outing to the beach (lifeguards on duty) 
Theme Workshops to discover regional traditions:
Traditional dances
Discover regional flavours
French and Occitan songs
Local sports – ‘pétanque’ and ‘tambourin’ 
Cooking club

 Guide price for minimum 15 students is 250 Euros each for 4 afternoon activities + weekly local transport pass + 1 full day excursion, chosen from the following examples:

 
 Typical full-day excursions: from 9:00 to 18:00 or 18:30 according to the excursion chosen
Pézenas and Sète Tour the historic centre of Pézenas, and taste the ‘petits pâtés’ and visit Sète and the Mont St Clair, taste the ‘tielles’  
Carcassonne visit the complete medieval castle with its narrow streets, still a vibrant city
Saintes-Maries de la Mer and Arles with their gypsy history and legends, Roman remains and Van Gogh trail
Avignon visit the Popes Palace and sing on the famous bridge
Uzes, Pont du Gard and Haribo Museum with links to Roman, medieval and modern history
Nimes with its amphitheatre and many Roman
Les Baux de Provence with its medieval hill-top fort complete with the biggest, working trebuchet, links to the Grimaldi family of Monaco and the site of the discovery of aluminium, Bauxite, in 1821

Group Leaders:

  • A group of 15 or more students includes passes/activities for 2 group leaders
  • A group of 10 to 14 students includes passes/activities for 1 or 2 group leaders
  • A group of 5 to 9 students includes passes/activities for 1 group leader

Accommodation for school trips to France

  • Our host families are specially selected to work with young students (the criteria for selection is available on request)
  •  Host families have worked with Eurolingua for several years (rules of security and ‘casiers judiciaires’ are available on request)
  • Within 15 to 25 minutes walk or bus-ride from the school
  • For weekend arrivals and departures, host family accommodation includes transfers from Montpellier Airport or the local bus or rail terminals
  •   Rate per student and per group leader with half-board (breakfast and dinner) host family accommodation: 30 Euro per night per person  or 25 Euro per night per person for shared room accommodation
  • Group Leaders: accommodation either with a host family or at an aparthotel at local commercial rates. Shared or single studio must be specified at the time of reservation
