The School
The school is located in the 7a Avenida Norte # 63, Antigua Guatemala, only a few blocks away from La Merced Church and the “Calle del Arco”. Academia de Español Guatemala (AEG) is Endorsed by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education No. 098-94 and the Guatemalan Tourism Commission (INGUAT) No. 24-95-D. Our system is one-on-one which offers an extremely effective method for learning Spanish as second language. AEG features a structured individualized program, specialized for each individual student. We also offer group lessons - minimum 2 and maximum 5 persons of the same level. Our teachers have on average of 8 years experience minimum. The school hours are 8:00am-12:00 and 14:00pm-17:00pm, Monday- Friday. For all of them we have technical vocabulary such as for flight attendants and pilots,Employees from the Embassies,World Bank,Universities and High School students, doctors and nurses,lawyers,economics, businessmen,engineers,architects,accountants, social workers and travelers.

We give a Diploma authorized by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education sign by the Director and teacher, also a Certification explaning about the training, hours and homestay (written and/or oral exam at the end of the course are available )

Textbooks used include Amsco 1, Amsco 2. Amsco 3, teachers´materials and our own material.

Methodology
Although all AEG teachers are trained in the same methodology, each has his/her own unique style. The student need to let the teacher know what they want – more focus on conversation, more or less homework, etc. The advantage of one-on-one instruction is that we can completely tailor the program to meet the students specific needs. (In case the student is not yet quite able to communicate these specific needs to their teacher the office staff will be glad to help!)

AEG organizes after hours activities to allow students to learn more about our culture and visit local points of interests. There is a different activity every day, and most are free of charge, except when there are entrance fees or transportation costs. Activities include Latin dance classes, ping-pong, movies, visits of coffee & and macadamia farms, villages, ruins, monuments, happy hours, museums, soccer, basketball, fiestas, round table discussions, hiking and bike trips, etc..Learning Spanish has never been so fun!

We have a home stay program which ensures the students are fully immersed in the language at all the times. All of our families are carefully screened and are used to hosting foreign students. This is an excellent scheme which allows students to practice Spanish every single day. Students get three meals a day everyday except Sunday, and a private bedroom in a home within walking distance of the school. The home stays provide everything for the student but for personal stuff like shampoo or a towel it is a good idea to bring their own. If the student prefers not to live with a family, AEG will be glad to arrange a reservation in one of Antigua’s hotels, hostels or apartments.
