The Kingdom of Sweden is a Nordic country situated in Northern Europe. It enjoys a highly developed economy and is a member of the European Union (EU). The capital is Stockholm with a population of about 2 million in the greater metropolitan area. Linguistically, Swedish is a North Germanic language originating in Old Norse, the Viking language. Modern Swedish is mutually intelligible with Norwegian but less so with Danish.

Uppsala International Summer Session - Uppsala Each year about 225 students and professionals take part in our Uppsala International Summer Session (UISS) to take advantage of an opportunity to learn Swedish in Sweden. The UISS teaches all classes at Vuxenskolan, a modern facility in the centre of Uppsala. We teach Swedish language at all levels as well as courses related to Swedish culture, history and society. An extensive activity program is offered as well.
